I was 22 in 1967 when I hired as a cub reporter by Billboard magazine, “the bible of the music business,” in New York City. While I had greater aspirations as a writer than writing for Billboard, Billboard was my best opportunity for a job after many failed attempts upon graduating college and waiting anxiously for months for the job to finally materialize.
